Hi,
No taxation without representation is one of the slogans that led to the American Revolution.
The British government added a series of new taxes between 1764 and 1773 (on sugar, stamps and tea, among others).
Indeed, the members of the Thirteen Colonies thought that it did not make sense that they were taxed by the Great Britain while they were not represented in parliament. This caused a great deal of frustration among the inhabitants of the Thirteen Colonies.
