Hi, i have a science lab about simple machines. We had to observe different type of household kitchen supplies and answer numerous questions. i am having trouble answering a few. can anyone help?
Bottle Opener( double Wing Corkscrews)
3) What kind of link exists between the handle and the frame of the device?
Can Opener
3) What type of link is found between the two handles?
Ice Cream Scoop( stainless steel)
2) What type of link exists between the scoop bowl and the blade?
3) What two main materials is the ice cream scoop made of? For each, name the (raw) origin of those materials.
Cheese Grater  Rotary
4) What type of motion does Handle 2 have?
Oscillatory?...

Thanks for your question!

To determine what kind of bond links different components of an object, try to think of what the function of those components is. For instance, in the bottle opener, the link between the frame and the handle has to allow the handle to rotate (partial link). There is no need for an object to link the handle and frame (direct link). These two components can't elastically deformed (rigid link) and can't be taken apart without damaging the object (permanent link).

This webpage from the Alloprof website explains linking:

Hi CielArtistique3354!
1. Bottle Opener (Double Wing Corkscrew)
Partial and rigid link: The handle and the frame are solidly connected (rigid), but the handles can rotate up and down (partial because movement is allowed).
2. Can Opener
Rotational partial link: The handles are joined with a pivot allowing them to open and close — they rotate around a point but remain connected.
3. Ice Cream Scoop (Stainless Steel)
Complete and rigid link: The blade is fixed inside the scoop and doesn't move independently.
Stainless steel (main body):
Origin: Iron ore (from the earth) + Chromium (often from chromite ore).
Plastic or rubber (for handle grip, if present):
Origin: Crude oil (petroleum, refined to make plastic).
4. Cheese Grater (Rotary Type)
No, it's rotational motion. Handle 2 spins in a circular motion to rotate the grating drum.
5. Nut Cracker (Shell Cracker for Seafood/Nuts)
They are used to pick, dig out, or pull out the nut or seafood meat from tight spaces like shells or claws — they're not for cracking but for extracting the inside.
