Salut jeunes gens d'Alloprof!
Je veux dire...
Hello, the young people of Alloprof!
Today, I just have a simple question to ask. How can I know which tense to use in a sentence if the exercice doesn't say it.
Example: The TV _____ on when I get into the house. (to be)
I thought it was "is" because "get" is on the present tense. But the aswer is "was", in the past tense.
So, please, help me find out why it is that way!

well think about it this way: replace by a nother verb u know best and also try translate it the language u know best as well

Hi!
The process is the same in English and in French, you have to use your logic! Here, the sentence is about a TV being on before the person entered the house. No matter the tense in the sentence, you have to ask yourself : what is the sentence saying? Here, you can assume that the tv was already on, wich means the verb "to be" should be in the past tense.
Take your time and think about the meaning of each sentence. It will make it easier.
