With the arrival of Europeans in America, there is a great clash of cultures. Europeans consider themselves superior to the various indigenous peoples from a genetic, intellectual and moral point of view. They will therefore impose European culture, way of life and beliefs on the natives. The latter will even be forced to settle down when they were nomads.
The practice of slavery was also widespread. Several natives will therefore become slaves on the various plantations that Europeans will establish in America, including tobacco plantations in the West Indies.
Regarding their disappearance, it is true that a large number of them died as a result of bacteriological shock. Indeed, the Native Americans had never been in contact with European diseases. When Europeans arrived in America, they were carriers of several diseases, such as smallpox, for which they have developed antibodies. However, the Natives did not develop the antibodies to resist these diseases and many died from them after being in contact with them. Some historians estimate at 80%, even 90%, the rate of Indigenous people who died following first contact with Europeans during the 15th and 16th centuries.
