    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

It is difficult to know exactly what they said, but the French Jesuit missionaries told Indigenous peoples that Christianity was the faith that would allow them to go to heaven after their death. They often use stories and objects such as crosses or religious images to explain their beliefs. The Jesuits also taught Indigenous people how to read and write in French or Latin, hoping that, by learning their language and culture, they would more easily accept the Christian religion.
