    Hi!

In Canada, the sales tax rate varies by province and territory.

    • Ontario: 13%
    • British Columbia: 12%
    • Alberta: 5%
    • Quebec: 14.975%
    • Nova Scotia: 15%
    • Manitoba: 12%

To calculate a product's taxes, you must multiply the product's price by the tax percentage. For example, if it's 13% the taxes payable for a $4 item are:

    $$ 0.13 \times $4 = $0.52 $$

If you want to know the amount after taxes, simply add the $0.52 to the $4, which gives you $4,52.

I hope this is clearer for you! :)

If sales tax is 13%, and you're buying bread for $4.00, here’s how to calculate the tax:

    ✅ Step-by-step:

    1. Find the tax
    2. Multiply the price by 13% (which is the same as 0.13):
    3. 4.00×0.13=0.524.00 \times 0.13 = 0.524.00×0.13=0.52So the tax is $0.52
    4. Find the total cost
    5. Add the tax to the original price:
    6. 4.00+0.52=4.524.00 + 0.52 = 4.524.00+0.52=4.52So the total cost with tax is $4.52

    🔁 Quick tip formula:

    • Tax = Price × 0.13
    • Total = Price × 1.13

    For example:

    4.00×1.13=4.524.00 \times 1.13 = 4.524.00×1.13=4.52
