The speed of diffusion and the molar mass of gas is proportional. In other words, the lighter the gas, the faster it diffuses. Plus, the heavier the gas, the slower it diffuses.
Therefore, ammoniac (molar mass = 17,04 g/mol) diffuses faster than hydrochloric acid (molar mass = 36,46 g/mol).
