    Hi ! :)

The patrons not only paid for the arts, but some of them would provide a place for the artist to live and to eat.

This was an exhange of service since some of the patrons required artists to do a specific piece for example, or to represent them in a certain way. Art was then a merchandise used in some political situations. Furthermore, patrons were helping emergent artists to get known because of their important social circles.

Most important patrons include Lorenzo de Medici, a very powerful man. He was the patron of Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo. :)

Hope that answered your question ! :)
