Question de l’élève

Secondaire 5 • 27j

Does this mean that for the " location with respect to the key points" for DIVERGING lens wont be similar to the REFLECTION chapter? For example, at minus 10 (At 2F') one would assume that the image would be in front of the lens at 2F?

Or for example, say the object is between infinity and 2F, the image would be in front of the lens between F' (secondary focus) and 2F'?

Thanks,

    Hi !

You are correct inthe sens that there is a lot of similarities between lenses and their mirror counterparts.

    Convex (Converging) Lenses :

    Concave (Converging) Mirror :

However, for a diverging lens, the image won't form exactly in the same way as with a reflection because the image is always virtual, upright, and reduced.

I hope this helps and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask them.

    Have a nice evening !
