This two-part activity explores the National Policy, which was introduced in Canada in 1879 by the government of John A. Macdonald. First, using Alloprof resources, students complete a worksheet with the causes and consequences of this policy. Next, they are asked to consider how the National Policy affected different groups in the Canadian population. At the end of the activity, students will be able to explain the causes, consequences, and impacts of this policy.
