5 Alloprof resources to help you prepare your elementary school classes

Article

When it comes to course preparation, being creative takes time and energy—especially if you’re trying to diversify your teaching strategies. If you’re looking to jazz up your teaching approach, Alloprof has five resources that will help you with lesson planning.

Concept sheets

Our concept sheets can be used in myriad ways. We’ve created hundreds of them about all of the concepts covered in elementary school! Feel free to consult them—not just to refresh your memory, but also to get ideas for activities, ways to explain things, and questions you might ask your students. On the site, you can browse them by subject and grade level, or do a keyword search.

Videos

Alloprof does everything it can to help students learn using a variety of teaching strategies. Even if our videos are primarily designed for students, they can also be very useful for course preparation. For instance, you can watch a video about a concept you’re planning on teaching in order to review it or get inspired (don’t worry about “stealing” our ideas!), or play it in class to spark interesting discussions with your students.

Review guides

Our review guides (available mostly in French only) are a great way to review all of the material to be studied over the course of a school year or term. They are based on the Quebec Education Program established by the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur du Québec. By consulting them, you’ll have access to a solid reference for all of the material to be covered by subject and grade level, as well as references for the concepts to be evaluated. They’re like ready-made checklists you can use to plan the entire school year!

Games

You’ve no doubt heard this before, but it can never be said enough: Games are a great way to jazz up your lesson plans. Gamification makes learning fun and interesting! The Alloprof website has many games (French only) for elementary school students. They’re perfect for practising concepts learned in class. Here’s an overview of what you’ll find:

We’re also continuing to develop more games, so keep an eye out for new content!

Help Zone

The Help Zone is one of Alloprof’s flagship services, and it really encompasses the heart of our mission. It’s a free service where students can get help with their homework questions. All answers are either given or validated by real teachers. Here are a few ideas for how to use the Help Zone to prepare your lesson plans:

  • Review the questions by subject matter to get an overview of the concepts that your students might struggle with, and then read the proposed answers.
  • Organize a Help Zone simulation activity where you encourage your students to work together to answer a question that’s been asked on the forum.
  • Etc.
