Alloprof’s review guides—true lifesavers at the end of the school year

Article

The end of the school year is just around the corner, and each passing hour is bringing students closer to those intense cramming sessions before final exams. Are you mentally prepared for all the questions you’re about to get? Students wanting to know things like, “Is this on the exam?” and “Do I really have to memorize this?”

Don’t worry! Alloprof’s review guides will ensure your students’ study sessions are as effective as can be. Review guides are lists of all the concepts covered in the curriculum that may appear on final exams. Each guide provides a clear and exhaustive summary of concepts for a specific grade level. Our guides are based on the Québec Education Program established by the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur du Québec (MEES).

In this article, we’ll go over four ways in which our review guides can help make your job a little bit easier.

Preparing for exam reviews

As you know, the months of May and June quickly turn into a race against time, where the most extensive revision possible somehow needs to fit in between the end of the last chapter and the first year-end exam. When you’re tasked with reviewing everything you’ve covered since September, it’s easy to feel that you might not be able to fit all the material into those last few remaining classes. Luckily, our review guides can help make things clearer. To structure your course review, simply browse the topics presented in the guide(s) that are relevant to you and quickly assess which concepts should be reviewed more extensively. You can also click on the links to the relevant articles and videos without having to search for them on the site.

Providing students with a checklist of concepts to review

In addition to being a great help when it comes to organizing your review classes, our review guides are also a big help for students who have to balance their studies with family and work obligations. To assist them, try turning our review guides into checklists for your students, either by printing them and handing them out or by posting them on your school’s teaching platform and giving your students the link. If you’re concerned that the guides might be too broad and scare your students, you can highlight certain topics or create your own list by only selecting the sections you’re interested in.

Preparing assessments

If you’re teaching a course that doesn’t end with a ministry exam, there’s a good chance you’ll be either partially or fully responsible for preparing your own assessment. Thanks to our review guides, you’ll be able to make sure no essential concepts are forgotten and cover as much material as possible. A few of our guides also contain games and exercises you can use as inspiration.

Planning for the upcoming school year

The end of the year isn’t the only time you might want an overview of the material being covered in class. This information can be useful at the start of the year, too! Whether you’re the type of person who establishes a rigorous game plan before you even set foot in the classroom or someone who prefers a flexible framework that you can adapt as the weeks go by, having a general idea of what you’ll be teaching over the upcoming school year can help you anticipate potential challenges and reduce day-to-day stress. If you prefer to work with paper, consider printing the review guide you need, cutting out different sections, and adding them to your calendar with a little Fun-Tak. You can then move them around as you wish until your planning feels just right.
