Learn How to Use the Verbivore Conjugation Game in Class!

Verbivore is a fun and engaging game where students enter the world of a young superhero chef who wants to become the greatest chef in the world.

To begin the experience, players customize their own avatar (which helps engage them immediately). The superhero chef embarks on a fun and educational journey through different culinary academies, learning to prepare unique dishes. Conjugation is the secret ingredient for the chef’s success—and it’s the foundation of the game. 
 

1. Students pop ingredient bubbles to unlock conjugation challenges.

Verbivore’s Two Game Modes
Verbivore features two different ways to play.
 

1. List Mode
This mode is perfect for targeted, repetitive practice of specific verbs.
Students start by selecting the list of verbs they want to practise. They have three options:
 

1. Create a custom list with verbs you suggest or verbs of their choice.
2. Choose a themed list from the game menu, organized by grade level.
3. Use a code to access a list you have created.

Playing the Game: Students work on a recipe and match ingredient bubbles to unlock conjugation challenges. After each attempt, they receive immediate feedback showing any errors and explaining the correct conjugation rule.
Levels gradually increase in difficulty, but students can also choose to work on any level at any time.
 

2. Story Mode
This mode lets students practise conjugation in context through fill-in-the-blank sentences embedded in a story.
Students select a story to read, and fill in the underlined verbs directly in the text as they advance. This method keeps the focus on conjugation while using the surrounding context as a guide. It’s a great way to reinforce the rules they’ve learned.
From the main menu, students can also see the WowChef contest rankings, which tracks scores from all games played. For extra motivation, the highest-scoring culinary school (all levels combined) is featured on the home page each month!
