5 reasons to use Alloprof resources as an educator

Article

You may know Alloprof for its homework assistance services, but did you know that it’s also a fantastic resource for teachers? Here are five good reasons to use Alloprof as an educator. It’s filled with great ideas for you and your students.

To keep students interested

Ask any educator and they’ll tell you just how quickly students can lose focus. One way to keep your class’s attention is to use a variety of teaching techniques and strategies. For example, you could try adding educational games to your lesson plans! Research shows that play facilitates learning. That’s why Alloprof offers a variety of educational games and applications to help students review spelling , mathematical operations, verb conjugations, and English—all while having fun. Although most of our games are geared toward elementary schoolers, some can be used at the beginning of high school, such as PP l’archer, which lets players review past participle agreements. Another game, Solitary Reaction, was designed specifically for Secondary IV students who want to practise balancing chemical equations.

To support self-directed learning with educational technology

With classes of 20 to 30 students (sometimes even more!), it’s not always possible to give individualized attention to everyone. Sometimes, teachers need to assign independent learning activities so they can work with students one-on-one or focus on other tasks. In classes with access to computers, students can practise and review concepts with our online exercises. There are over 700 of them!

For elementary schoolers, one of our most popular resources is our interactive spelling exercise  tool (French only). Students simply enter the words from their spelling list and the app automatically reads them aloud! You can also save your own spelling lists and generate an access code for your students. This exercise is also available as a free mobile application via Google Play and the App Store. Search for “Exercice interactif de vocabulaire.”

To get additional personalized support

No matter how hard you try, you can’t be available to help your students 24/7. If a student needs more personalized support, you can tell them about our Help Zone, which is available seven days a week. In addition to getting clear explanations, your student can also answer other students’ questions. And as you know, explaining a concept to someone else is one of the best ways to learn. Of course, everything in the Help Zone is validated by the Alloprof team!

Students with academic questions can also ask a teacher via chat, text or phone, Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. One of our 200 teachers will be happy to help them out for free!

To help with lesson preparation

A great tool for lesson preparation is the Exam prep and study tips section of the Alloprof website, which contains essential resources such as our review guides. You’ll find nearly 3,000 school concepts with links to files from our virtual library. You can use them for lesson preparation or to review course material before you start class.

To give parents the tools they need to support their children’s academic success

Alloprof also offers a service to help parents support their children throughout their education. Alloprof Parents was developed in partnership with education professionals and multiple associations and professional bodies. The platform offers a host of simple and effective resources for parents of children facing challenges in their academic development. It’s a great reference teachers can share at parent-teacher meetings. Just like students, parents can also contact specialists, such as remedial teachers, free of charge, to ask questions about their child’s school experience.
