you went out to eat with 3 friends and the entire meal costed $72.50. Considering 6.75% sales tax and 15% tip given to the waiter, how much would each person pay ?

bonjour,
Je crois que 72,50$ est le prix du repas avant taxe et pourboire.
IL faudrait donc ajouter la taxe et le pourboire.

Hi there Harrison !
For this problem, you must find how much 6.75% of tax is equal to, in terms of money, from the total cost. Then, substract it from the price, as logic gives it, to finally do the same with the 15% tip. From there, you can divide this cost of the meal (which is minus the tax and tip) by the number of friends, representing the amount each friend should pay.
***Alain has a good point. If the total price of 72.50 excludes taxes and tip, then you must calculate the total cost after taxes and tip included, and only then divide this total by 3 to calculate each friend's investment in this meal.
Hope I untangled and the braided the steps together for you. If not, do not hesitate to contact us again :)
