Can you explain how to use the periodic table please? I can’t use it correctly.

The periodic table is used to organize chemical elements based on their atomic number and electron configuration, all while grouping them into families based on their chemical properties. Elements are arranged by atomic number and by increasing atomic mass.

Each of the boxes in the table corresponds to an element such as carbon, hydrogen or oxygen, etc. In these boxes you find three important pieces of data: the atomic number, which corresponds to the number of protons in the atom; the atomic mass; and the chemical symbol of the atom.

Moreover, the periodic table tells us about the physical state in which elements are found in standard laboratory conditions.

In terms of chemical properties, atoms are sorted into families to better recognize them. A family in the periodic table corresponds to a vertical column in the table, and atoms in a family have the same number of valence electrons. A horizontal row in the table is called a period.
