    I believe you made an calculation error 16x6 = 96 not 132

I do not see the entire question.

Mel has one oven that can bake 12 muffins in 3/4 hour

That means that this oven can bake 12/(3/4) = 12x4/3 = 16 muffins per hour

If she has a total of N = 5 or 6 ovens with the that capacity, that is they each can bake 16 muffins per hour

then if they all function for 6 hours the total number of muffins baked would be:

    N x 6 hours x 16 muffins/hour = 480 or 576 muffins (for N = 5 or 6)

To solve this problem, let's do the calculations step by step:

Number of muffins baked in an hour by an oven: If Mel bakes 12 muffins in 3/4 hour, it means that in one hour she can bake:

    12

    3

    4

    =

    12

    ×

    4

    3

    =

    16

     Muffins.

Number of muffins baked in an hour with 5 ovens: Each oven bakes 16 muffins in an hour. With 5 ovens, we get:

    16

    ×

    5

    =

    80

     muffins per hour.

Number of muffins baked in 6 hours with 5 ovens: If the ovens run for 6 hours, the total becomes:

    80

    ×

    6

    =

    480

     Muffins.

Conclusion: Mel can bake 480 muffins in 6 hours with his 5 ovens. i think.

Hi! I'm not sure if I've got your question correctly because I can't see it all, but I'll try to answer it! Let's do it step by step:

1- You have to find how many muffins Mel can bake in 1 hour. Instead of doing 12 ÷ 4/3, you should divide it by 3/4 (look at your question)! So we have 12 ÷ 3/4. Do you know how to do that? First, you can transform 2 in a fraction, which equals: 2/1 ÷ 3/4. When you divide a fraction by another fraction, you multiply the first by the other fraction's inverse, so you can do 2/1 x 4/3 = 8/3.

2- You must find how many muffins Mel can bake in 1 hour with 5 ovens, so you can do 8/3 x 5/1 = 40/3.

3- You must find how many muffins Mel can bake in 6 hours with 5 ovens, so you can do 40/3 x 6/1 = 240/3. You can simplify 240/3: You should end up with 80 muffins!

I hope that my explanation was clear even if I'm not a really good English speaker! :)
