Hello can you please help me answer this question,

An airplane pilot wishes to travel due east from Montreal to Paris at a resultant speed of 280km/h, however there is a wind blowing at 85km/h [N 25 W], what velocity must the pilot program into the airplane?

    Hi !

This problem is about vectors and their sum. In your case, you have two vectors, one is pointing east and the other north west. You want the one pointing east to be 280 km/h.

You should first draw your vectors. You can see that the wind vector will influence your plane in one axis. You can then calculate all values within this axis.

And you want the sum of these vector in this axis to be equal to 280 km/h.

I will you try this by yourself first and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask them !

that's really complicated, I think you need to know the formula for velocity. try to search a video for the explanation
