Learning to read involves learning to recognize words and understand their meaning. Just as in many other areas of learning, play can be a magic ingredient that helps motivate your child when they are learning to read.

Once a child can decipher words, they must also learn to make connections with what those words represent and develop the ability to visualize them (for example, be able to imagine a tomato when they read the word /to/ma/to/).
