Try Out the New Verbivore Conjugation Game with Your Child!

Article

Mastering French conjugation is an essential part of learning the language. It not only helps you express yourself more precisely, it also makes understanding what you read easier. But for many children, learning to conjugate properly can be a struggle. Introducing Verbivore, Alloprof’s fun new verb conjugation game! Verbivore is an enchanting new video game that helps your child practise conjugating French verbs.

Game Description

In Verbivore, your child plays the part of a young culinary superhero who dreams of becoming the world’s greatest chef. First, they pick an avatar that they can customize however they want. Next, they’ll try their hand at preparing unique recipes as they visit different cooking schools.
Each ingredient bubble they pop unlocks a conjugation challenge they must answer correctly to properly prepare their dish.
But be careful! The recipe can only succeed if each verb is conjugated correctly!
The game features two distinct game modes:

  • List mode: your child chooses one of three list options to practise their verbs—create a personalized verbs list; choose one of Alloprof’s preset verbs lists, organized by theme and grade level; or use a code from a list created by their teacher.
Next, they’ll tackle a recipe by popping some bubbles. The goal is to line up their bubbles to unlock conjugation questions. At the end of each attempt, they receive feedback if they’ve made a mistake. That way, they can see what conjugation rule they should have used. Levels can be played independently, but are designed to gradually increase in difficulty. List mode is perfect for students who need repeated, targeted practice.

  • Story mode: ideal for students who want to use verbs in context. In story mode, your child reads a story and conjugates the underlined verbs on each page. This lets them focus on conjugating verbs while using them in context.

The list of top-ranking players will be featured on the main menu page in the Concours WowChef section. The scores of all the players, no matter their level, are compiled each month, and the winning culinary school is posted on the home screen!

Why Encourage Your Child to Play Verbivore?

Verbivore is a motivating new game that encourages your child to improve their conjugating skills while having fun. Try it once and you’re sure to be hooked! Here are just a few of the benefits of using Verbivore to practise conjugating verbs.

  • An Efficient Conjugation Learning Tool
Each round of the game is designed to allow children to focus on one question at a time. They play at their own pace and without pressure, so it’s perfect as a quick review before homework or a little after-school challenge. The game is quick to play, which makes it easy to fit into a routine without overloading your child’s schedule.

  • Reward-Based Gameplay
The more answers they get right, the more their efforts are rewarded: In addition to cooking up a tasty dish, they’ll earn stars they can use to personalize their avatar and points to help them move up the ranks in the culinary academy.

  • Personalized Learning
The game lets you create your own lists of verbs to practise with. If your child has difficulty with a particular verb or tense, you can help them put together a customized list to practise. What’s more, at the end of each round, a results page displays the verbs that still need some work, so your child can target their weak points and go over them more effectively.
