You have no doubt heard of colour by numbers, but have you ever heard of colour by geometric shapes? In this activity, your child must identify the various plane figures (circle, square, rectangle, triangle) hidden in the image and colour them the correct colour. They will apply their knowledge of geometric shapes while having fun at the same time!
Application of learning in a different context. The plane figures in these mosaics are not all the same shape or size. For instance, some rectangles are larger or narrower than others. Your child will therefore learn to identify shapes in a range of possible forms.
Perseverance. It may take a while for your child to complete a full mosaic, which means they will need to exercise patience—a valuable quality not only in school, but in all areas of life.
Development of fine motor skills. Holding a pencil crayon and carefully colouring within the lines helps improve your child’s dexterity.
Improved concentration. In addition to perseverance, this activity requires the ability to concentrate on identifying shapes, matching them with the right colour, and so on.
