Coming up with ideas and resources to help you prepare your high school courses isn’t always easy—it often requires a wave of inspiration or a great deal of time and research. Fortunately, the Alloprof website contains an array of tools and resources that can help you with your lesson plans. Here are five that you may find particularly useful!

Concept videos

Our concept videos are an essential tool students can use when they need more hands-on or practical explanations about a concept with which they are struggling. That said, they can be just as relevant for teachers. In fact, you can even integrate them into your courses by showing them in class. You can also use them to get ideas on how to build your lesson plan or as a quick refresher on a concept you are about to teach.

Crash Lessons

Another video resource you can consult is our Crash Lessons (French only). These interactive video tutorials are accompanied by review exercises that make it easier to understand a concept—all in 30 minutes or less. They are a precious resource for students, but teachers can also benefit from them in a variety of ways. For example, you can show them in class when a concept is particularly challenging for your students, and then ask your class to work on the exercises in small groups. You can also try a flipped classroom approach, where you ask your students to watch the video for homework and then have them do the activities in class. Crash Lessons are structured in four steps:

  • Reviewing key concepts
  • Validating what students have learned with an interactive video
  • Challenging students to apply what they have learned with exercises
  • Suggesting related concepts

Concept sheets

Alloprof does everything it can to offer free, high-quality educational content divided by subject and grade level. All (or almost all!) of the Quebec Education Program is explained in our thousands of concept sheets! As you can imagine, they are a valuable lesson-planning tool. You can use them to prepare class notes, assign them to your students as review material, or draw inspiration from the examples and exercises they include. As an added bonus, many of them contain explanatory videos!

Review guides

Having an overview of the concepts you will be teaching throughout the school year can be extremely handy. Alloprof’s review guides are great for this purpose because they map out the content covered at every grade level. They list all the concepts students learn along with all related tools available on our website. It is never a bad idea to keep these resources on hand to expand your explanations, provide students who need it with review material, or give yourself a quick reminder of the essentials of each subject.

Exercices

Let’s not gloss over the fact that preparing and correcting exercises can be time-consuming. A great way to make this task easier is to integrate Alloprof’s interactive exercises into your classes. You can mix things up by projecting these exercises onto an interactive whiteboard and asking students to solve them. They also make great homework assignments. We will take care of the answer key!
