Learning to Read, One Sound at a Time | Learning activity

Article

Do you remember when you first learned to read? You started with little words here and little sounds there. Everyone has to start somewhere! With this activity, we suggest you introduce students to reading by identifying the sounds in words.

There are several ways to do this exercise with your class. Here are some examples:

  • Find a sound in one of the words written on the cards.

  • Point to cards that have a particular sound.

  • Arrange the cards alphabetically.

  • Etc.

Feel free to get creative!
