    Good evening mangousteagiles51!

Following the coming into force of the British North America Act in 1867, both governments (federal and provincial) would each have their own areas of jurisdiction.

However, certain powers will be shared by the two levels of government such as agriculture, prisons, immigration, etc.

The federal government takes care of taxes, currency, defense among other things.

As for the provincial government, it takes care of health, education, marriages, etc.

Let us know if we can help you with anything else!
