To answer your question: The French Revolution directly
follows the American Revolution. In fact, we can consider
the American Revolution to be a cause of the French
Revolution. Also, the ideas of the Enlightenment
philosophers encouraged the French to take up arms and
rebel against the monarchical system in place.
