Hello,

I can't seem to understand how energy can manifest naturally. Can you explain to me how it manifests please?

Thanks a lot!

    Hello!

Thank you for your question! 😉

Energy is summed up as the ability to cause a change of state or movement. So, a natural manifestation of energy is therefore of a natural cause, which corresponds to the stated definition.

These manifestations come from the five different spheres of the Earth: solar energy, the hydrosphere, the atmosphere, the biosphere, and the lithosphere.

    Solar Energy

Here, the manifestations of energy arise from the enormous amount of energy given off by radiation from the sun. There is therefore the heat of the rays, which is thermal energy, and the light given off by the sun, which is light energy. This light can be transformed into useful energy using photovoltaic solar panels which generate electricity.

    Hydrosphere

Here, the manifestations of energy come from the water cycle and the movement it causes. First, there is the hydraulic energy associated with the current of waterfalls and rivers. This energy can be transformed into useful energy with the help of hydroelectric power plants, which use the current of rivers to turn a turbine that generates electricity. Also, the movement of the tides can be used; this is called tidal energy. The movement of waves and currents can be used, but it is little used, since it is difficult to set up installations in the open ocean.

    Atmosphere

The manifestations of energy in the atmosphere come only from the wind. This form of energy is called wind power. It can be used to ventilate buildings, cool off or even dry clothes. It can also be used to generate electricity using wind turbines.

    Biosphere

Here, energy comes from biomass, that is, organic matter. Biomass energy can refer to the consumption of organic matter to regain energy or combustion to obtain light and thermal energy. This combustion can be used to obtain electrical energy. This process is called bioenergy.

    Lithosphere

Energy manifestations come from elements associated with the lithosphere. We are referring here to the combustion of fossil fuels, such as petroleum. For example, geothermal energy comes from the internal heat of the Earth and nuclear energy is associated with radioactive radiation or nuclear fission.
