    Hello,

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) provided an opportunity for people affected directly or indirectly by the aftermath of residential schools to tell their stories and experiences. The TRC is part of the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement to facilitate reconciliation between Indigenous communities and the Canadian government. The Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement is the largest class action lawsuit in Canadian history.

Created in 2008, the TRC therefore sheds light on the injustices that Indigenous people experienced in residential schools, including the many policies of assimilation as well as the physical and psychological violence to which Indigenous people were subjected in residential schools.
