The post-war context favors two things; urban growth as well as urban sprawl. During this time, people have more jobs which marks a period of prosperity in Canada. As a result, people have more money and therefore more access to credit. The population could now afford cars and bungalow-type houses, leading to the emergence of suburbs around already existing towns. In addition, in order to facilitate transport between the cities and their suburbs, road networks were developed. To give you an example of a suburb, Laval is a city that is part of the suburbs of Montreal.

Hope that answers your question :)
