    Hello!

At the start of the 20th century, conditions for workers became very difficult; long hours of work, poorly lit factories, etc.

In order to force changes, many workers came together to assert their rights.

Some secular American unions such as the Knights of Labor and the American Federation of Labor approached Canadian workers to join them in their fight.

In reaction to this approach, the Catholic clergy feared losing its influence over the people of Quebec. The Church therefore lent a helping hand to Quebec workers by creating the Confederation of Catholic Workers of Canada in 1921.

I hope that answers your question! :)
