    Hey, 

    That's a great question; let's look into it. 

    During every reaction, energy is absorbed, and energy is released. However, types of reactions such as endothermic and exothermic reactions exist. In fact, during an endothermic reaction, more energy is absorbed than released (ΔH is positive), and during an exothermic reaction, more energy is released (ΔH is negative). 

    Here is a screenshot from our website. Looking at the progression of the reaction (x-axis), we can see the difference in terms of enthalpy (y-axis).
