Student Question

Secondary V • 3d

Hello,

I would like to understand my final grade in French. I got 38% on the ministry writing exam, and my report card grades are: writing 67%, reading 77%, and oral 85% (average around 73%).

For example, if writing is 50% ministry exam and 50% year (school), my final writing would be around 53%, and my overall grade could be around 70% or below.

Do I pass the course? And is this calculation correct?

Explain because I wanna know.

    Hi NaiveGiganotosaurus556,

    Thank you for your question!

As you said, it depends on the weight of each exam in your overall average.

Do you know if writing, reading and oral each count as a third of your final grade? If so, and if the ministry's writing exam is indeed 50% of the grade, then yes, your calculation would be correct.

I suggest that you ask your teacher for more details!

I hope this helps, and do not hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions!
