I have a question about agricultural developments in Japan.
What arrangement makes it possible to cultivate where the relief is not favorable to agriculture in Japan

The rice terraces allow the cultivation of rice on mountainous land. Several small flat lands are hollowed in the mountain in a staircase shape. Each step thus created allows the cultivation of rice, a crop that requires a lot of water to grow. The flat relief created allows water to be retained in place instead of flowing as it would on the side of a natural mountain.
