    Hello !

I don't know if you've ever heard of the Patriots in Lower Canada? They were identified as “French Canadians”. When Lower Canada finally became the province of Quebec, the term to refer to Canadians speaking the French language on the territory of Quebec then changed to “Québécois”.

The Quebec identity then became linked to its territory. Several territorial elements such as the St. Lawrence River and winter will later be valued by the government and artists like Robert Charlebois. Geography therefore is an important element of the Quebec identity.

Hope that answers your question! :)
