How many countries are in the British Empire? Are these countries (England, Scotland, Ireland, etc) considered to be under one Empire or are they independent countries?

    Hi EmpatheticKnight,

Thank you for using our platform to ask your question! :)

There were a lot of countries (formally colonies) in the British Empire. You can see all of them in the map below:

Ireland was in fact in the Empire until its independence from it in 1937.

Scotland and England were both a part of the British Empire and, to this day, are still a part of Great Britain.

Let us know if you have any other questions! :)
