Why do we park in Driveways but drive in Parkways

    I guess this is just another peculiarity of the English language! I think part of the answer may lie in the etymology of the word parkway: parkways originally referred to roads that went through parks. Also, both "driveway" and "parkway" predate motorized vehicles.
