Alloprof is a goldmine of resources for teachers and newcomers
Montreal, August 23, 2023 - In preparation for the start of the new school year, the Alloprof team has created a dedicated website section for elementary and high school teachers to help them with lesson planning. The organization has also published a short guide for newcomers to help them understand the Quebec education system and support their children’s academic careers.
Ready-to-use resources for teachers
The Alloprof website now features a section designed specifically for elementary and high school teachers: Alloprof Teachers. The new section is packed with helpful tips to make lesson planning easier, especially at the beginning of the year. “Over the past 26 years, Alloprof has developed a vast catalogue of resources,” says Pascal Bonaldo, Student Services Manager and spokesperson for Alloprof. “We wanted to help teachers quickly find the best resources for their students based on their specific struggles, grade level, and subject, and share tips on how to use them in class and at home. This is a particularly useful resource for early career teachers looking to build their toolboxes.” Teachers will find a treasure trove of resources to support students and their parents, including printable tools and activity ideas.
They can also order free promotional materials, such as classroom posters and bookmarks, to encourage students to read and spread the word about Alloprof’s student services and resources.
Helping parents prepare for the new school year
“Unfortunately, there’s no class that will teach you how to support your child through school!” says Bonaldo. “The Quebec school system can be hard to understand and navigate even if you were born here, and it can be even more complicated for newcomers who are still adjusting to their new home,” says Bonaldo. To meet this need, Alloprof has created a short guide for newcomers that includes a glossary of educational terms, what parents need to know before registering for kindergarten, how report cards work, and ways to support a child who is studying in a language their parent does not speak.
Thanks to the support of the Desjardins Foundation, Alloprof Parents has also put together a full collection of back-to-school resources with valuable tips and advice on dealing with back-to-school stress, easing school transitions, staying organized, and setting an effective homework routine. Last but not least, because starting school is a big transition, the Alloprof team has put together a resource collection for parents of children entering kindergarten: Ready for kindergarten!
Return to regular service hours
Students can access over 25,000 resources and the Help Zone at any time, seven days a week, on the Alloprof website. Starting September 5, teachers will be back on the job answering school-related questions by text, chat, and phone.
