This printable weekly planner is a must-have for staying organized during the school week! It will allow your students to visually organize their assignments and lessons, as well as any field trips or special activities, while helping them develop autonomy and a sense of time.

Encourage your students to fill out their planner on their own and put it in a three-ring binder. You can also recommend that they use a colour code (e.g., red for homework, green for oral presentations) or symbols so help them get an overview of their week at a glance.

Using the Weekly Planner in the Classroom

Here are a few ideas for effectively using this planner in your classroom:

  • Morning and end-of-day routine: Integrate the planner into your daily classroom routine. Add the day’s goals and/or important reminders to the PDF file before displaying it on your interactive whiteboard in the morning. Then, at the end of the day, your students can check off all the tasks they’ve finished and write down their homework assignment. Alternatively, you can print out a new planner each week and hang it in your classroom.
  • Visualizing the week ahead: Before starting a new week, go through the planner together. Discuss the week’s important topics, theme days, upcoming projects, and special activities (field trips, workshops). This helps students to anticipate and mentally prepare for the week ahead. You can also add students’ birthdays!
  • Homework planning: This planner is an excellent tool for keeping track of homework assignments, lessons to review, and project due dates. You can also ask parents to review and sign their child’s planner every week.
  • Personalized goals: Each student can write down their personal goals for the week, whether academic (e.g., memorizing a spelling list) or behavioural (e.g., “raise my hand before speaking”).
  • Communicating with parents: You can also use the planner to send messages home. Parents can see the week’s activities and homework at a glance and add notes if necessary.
  • Weekly review: At the end of every week, set aside some time for students to review their calendars individually or as a class.
    • What have we learned?
    • What have we achieved?
    • What was difficult?

This helps students feel a sense of accomplishment and allows them to make adjustments to their schedules if needed
