Birthday Party

Birthday parties are used to celebrate when someone becomes one year older. Friends and family members are usually invited to the party and balloons are often used to decorate. The birthday boy or girl also receives gifts or cards.

Another important part of a birthday party is the cake. The age of the birthday girl or boy tells us how many candles should be placed on the cake. Many people make a wish when they blow out their candles: they ask for something they really want. It is believed that by keeping this wish secret, it will become true.
