She is neither the captain of the soccer nor football team.
He doesn't know which to pick. Neither pair of shoes is comfortable.
Neither is used when none of the two alternatives, things, or people are considered. When the two alternatives are listed, use 'nor' between the items.
Use singular verbs after neither.
| I can bring neither Katie nor Julio. | (I can't bring Katie, and I can't bring Julio.) |
| She likes neither the red pants nor the blue dress. | (She doesn't like the red pants, and she doesn't like the blue dress.) |
| Neither of your sisters are there. | (Your sisters are not there.) |
| Neither glasses broke in the dishwasher. | (The two glasses are fine.) |
| They can speak neither French nor Arabic. | (They can't speak French, and they can't speak Arabic.) |
