Oxygen, heat, and fuel are frequently referred to as the "fire triangle." Add in the fourth element, the chemical reaction, and you actually have a fire "tetrahedron." The important thing to remember is: take any of these four things away, and you will not have a fire or the fire will be extinguished.

    Hello, ArtisticFalcon436!

The combustion triangle (the fire triangle) is a representation of the combination of the three key elements that form the basis of any combustion reaction.

For a combustion reaction to occur, three essential elements must be present simultaneously:

    1. fuel, a substance that burns, such as wood or petroleum products.
    2. An oxidizing agent, a substance that sustains combustion, mainly oxygen (O₂)
    3. temperature high enough to achieve the ignition point (heat): this is the temperature that allows the provision of sufficient energy to initiate combustion. This is actually the activation energy that allows the reaction to take place. This value varies depending on the fuel used.
