Spot the 6 Differences: Sedentarization

This fun activity is designed to introduce the first unit of the history and citizenship education program. It’s perfect for the beginning of the school year. Students are asked to compare 2 images: one depicting a nomadic people, the other depicting a sedentary people. They must circle the differences between the two images. These differences represent changes that occurred with sedentarization.

Grade Levels: Secondary I and II

Duration: 30 minutes

Objectives: 

  • Reactivate knowledge acquired l about nomadism and sedentarisation in elementary school
  • Identify characteristics of sedentary societies
  • Indicate subsistence activities of sedentary societies in the Neolithic period (livestock farming and agriculture)
  • Identify the artisanal processes that developed in the Neolithic period (pottery and weaving)
