Student Question

Secondary V • 6mo.

I dont understand why they get Ekb = EkC PLUS EgpC.

Can we say Ekc = E gpD? Or we cannot because it is not acting like a fulcrum/ ramp?

    Hi ZombieAdorable5428! 🛹

Basically, at the highest point (2m), the skater will only have GP energy while on the other hand, at the lowest point the only energy will be the kinetic.

That is why during B, all the energy will be kinetic and during C, the energy will be split between kinetic and GP. However, the total amount of energy will stay the same unless an external force intervenes. That is why the total energy of B and C is the same.

For E, yes you can say the amount of energy is split between the two because is goes from one extreme to the other.

I hope this helped! Feel free to ask other questions. 😊
