The Trick to Solve Magic Squares

There is a trick for easily solving a 9-tile magic square. This method works if the numbers that need to be placed in the magic square are consecutive numbers (they come one after the other). Follow these 3 steps to always perfectly solve a magic square!

  1. First, write the numbers to be placed into the magic square in order.

  2. Then write the number in the middle of the sequence in the centre of the square.

  3. Finally, group the other numbers in pairs (the smallest with the largest, etc.) like below. The pairs are placed on the same line (diagonal, vertical, horizontal) around the central number as seen in the example. Each line will then have the same sum.
