Advanced Household Objects Vocabulary

  • dish
    A flat or shallow container used for holding, serving or cooking food. Plates, bowls and platters are all dishes.
  • utensil
    A small, handheld tool used in the kitchen for preparing, serving or eating food. Spoons, forks, knives, spatulas and can openers are all utensils.
  • steak knife
    A sharp knife with a jagged edge. It is used for cutting tough meat, like steak or chicken.
  • blender
    A kitchen machine used to mix, chop, or turn solid food into liquid.
  • conditioner
    A hair product used after shampoo to make hair soft, smooth, and easy to brush.
  • electric toothbrush
    A toothbrush that uses a battery or electricity to move the bristles automatically.
  • electric razor
    A tool powered by a battery or electricity used to shave hair from the face or body. Also called a “shaver.”
  • shaver
    A tool powered by a battery or electricity used to shave hair from the face or body. Also called an “electric razor.”
  • duvet
    A large, soft and thick blanket filled with feathers or warm synthetic material.
  • quilt
    A bed cover made of several layers stitched together. The top layer is often made of many small pieces of fabric sewn together to create a pattern or a picture.

    A cleaning product used to remove spots or marks (like grass, wine, blood or grease) that regular washing cannot clean.

    A strong liquid chemical used to whiten clothes and kill germs.

    An electronic device that reads and plays music from a CD (Compact Disc).
