Make Mental Math Fun with Speedy Rabbit

Article

There is no point sugarcoating it: Helping your child master mental math and arithmetic operations tables is often no walk in the park. Fortunately, our educational game Speedy Rabbit makes mental math child’s play! By integrating this game into your child’s homework routine, you can make their learning experience more motivating, personalized, and fun. Read on to learn how!

Speedy Rabbit: A Customizable Game

Speedy Rabbit allows children to practise their multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction tables, as well as review operations with missing terms. When your child opens the game, they can personalize their learning experience by choosing the tables they want to practise, the type of operation, and their grade level (in quick-play mode). After configuring these settings, your child’s personalized virtual rabbit can embark on an exciting mathematical operations race!

In addition, in adventure mode, the game adapts its difficulty level based on the player’s right and wrong answers. That means that the game will become more challenging as your child improves.
As your child progresses through the game, they will earn gold coins they can exchange for accessories for their rabbit. Their results and progress will also be saved in their player account so they can easily keep track of their performance.

Two Play Modes

Speedy Rabbit has two play modes: adventure mode (for long-term practice) and quick-play mode.

Adventure mode offers a progression adapted to the student’s answers, and has three different courses where players can choose the types of operations they want to work on. For example, they could practise addition and subtraction in Adventure 1 and multiplication in Adventure 2.

Players progress through five worlds, including the forest and ice floe. Each world has a champion who guides the players as they advance in the game. Along the way, your child will meet (and defeat!) champions like Daphne Decimal, Calvin Calculus, and Albert Algebra! Your child must defeat the champion to move on to the next world.

Quick-play mode does not adapt to the player’s results, but it does enable them to practise specific operations and tables, such as the 7 multiplication table.

Multiple Event Types

When your child plays in quick-play mode*, they can choose between several different types of events:

  • Competition, where several rabbits are on the starting line and the player has to beat their competitors and reach the finish line as quickly as possible.
  • Marathon, where the game continues until the player makes too many mistakes.
  • Sprint, where the player has to reach the finish line within a set time.
  • Duel, where the player faces off against an adversary in a tug-of-war and pulls the rope a little closer to their side with each correct answer.
  • Champion challenge, which is the final stage in each world. The difficulty level is slightly higher than in previous races, and the player has to beat the champion to win.
  • Training, where the player can practise with no time constraints or performance requirements. It is a great option for students who still need to familiarize themselves with the tables to play and learn at their own pace.

*Note that adventure mode includes races from each category listed above, except training. Unlike quick-play races, players are not able to choose their event types in adventure mode.

Speedy Rabbit’s multiplayer mode allows up to four children to play simultaneously. One child acts as the host and generates a simple code which they share with the other players, who can join the game from their own device. This mode makes gaming sessions fast paced and motivating. Players do not need to sign in to an Alloprof account to play in multiplayer mode.
