What are the units used to measure time?

To measure time, you can use different units.

Examples

  • Minutes (min)

There are certain equivalences between the different units of time.

Examples
  • 1 minute = 60 seconds
  • 1 hour = 60 minutes
  • 1 day = 24 hours
  • 1 week = 7 days
  • 1 year = 12 months

What are the units of time used for?

Units of time allow you to know the length of an event.

The longer the event, the larger the unit of time used.

Examples
  • Seconds: I hold my breath for 3 seconds.
  • Minutes: I jump on one leg for 3 minutes.
  • Hours: I drive 3 hours to go to my grandparents’.
  • Days: My cousin will come to my house for 3 days.
