Rules

Possessive adjectives are used to indicate ownership of a noun. Just like possessive pronouns, they indicate the person, the gender and the number.

Possessive adjectives are also known as possessive determiners.

Possessive adjectives	Examples	Possessive pronouns
my	This is my paintbrush.	This is mine. mine = my paintbrush
your	Is this your painting?	Is this yours? yours = your painting
his	This is his design.	This is his. his = his** design The possessive adjective* and the possessive pronoun are the same in this person.
her	Is this her cat?	Is this hers? hers = her cat
its	Look at its eyes!	X No possessive pronoun.
our	This is our workshop.	The workshop is ours. ours = our workshop
your	This is your mess.	This is yours. yours = your mess
their	This is their exhibition.	This exhibition is theirs. theirs = their exhibition
